Serving New Hamburg, Waterloo County
Founded in 1834 by William Scott and named after the German city of Hamburg, this Wilmot Township community grew up around grist mills along the Nith River. The town's working water wheel — one of the largest in North America — still turns at the entrance to downtown, a nod to the German heritage that still shapes local culture and the long-running Mennonite Central Committee Relief Sale.
