Serving Ayr, Waterloo County
Ayr was settled in 1824 by Scottish immigrants who named the village after Ayr, Scotland. The community grew up around the Nith River and the Watson textile mill, and despite being absorbed into the North Dumfries township in 1973 retains a distinct Scottish-village character — visible in the limestone architecture and the annual Ayr Highland Games tradition.
