Serving Dorchester, Middlesex County
First settled in the 1790s by British Loyalists under Governor John Graves Simcoe, Dorchester grew from a lumber town where cedar and white pine were floated down the Thames River to build Detroit. Today it serves as the commercial core of Thames Centre municipality, known for the Dorchester Swamp — a 1,354-acre provincially significant wetland — and the beloved Fall Fair that has run for over 165 years.
